Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Ayumi respects your privacy.

Ayumi is a local-first journaling app for iOS and macOS. Journal entries are primarily stored under the user’s control as local files or in the user’s own cloud storage location selected within the app.

Ayumi may access the following data only when you choose to use the related features:

  • Microphone audio, when you record an audio note for transcription
  • Location, when you allow Ayumi to attach where an entry was written
  • Files and attachments, when you choose to attach images, audio, PDFs, or other files to an entry

Ayumi uses accessed data only to provide app functionality, including:

  • Creating and saving journal entries
  • Attaching contextual metadata such as location and weather
  • Saving attachments alongside entries
  • Converting recorded audio into text

If you use the transcription feature, audio you choose to record may be sent to a third-party transcription service provider to generate text.

Ayumi does not use audio data for advertising or tracking.

Ayumi is designed to be local-first. Journal content and related files are stored locally or in storage locations selected by you.

Ayumi does not require account creation to use its core journaling features.

Ayumi does not sell your personal data.

Ayumi does not share your data with third parties except when necessary to provide a feature you explicitly use, such as audio transcription through a third-party API.

Ayumi does not use your data for cross-app tracking or advertising purposes.

You can choose whether to grant access to permissions such as microphone or location. If you deny these permissions, Ayumi will continue to work with reduced functionality for those specific features.
