Sync with iCloud
Ayumi uses iCloud Drive for seamless synchronization across your Apple devices.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Ayumi stores all entries as Markdown files in a folder you choose. When that folder is on iCloud Drive, Apple handles the syncing automatically.
- No account registration required
- No Ayumi servers involved
- Files sync through Apple’s iCloud infrastructure
Setting Up Sync
Section titled “Setting Up Sync”- During initial setup, select a folder inside iCloud Drive
- That’s it — sync is automatic
On your other devices:
- Install Ayumi
- Select the same iCloud Drive folder
- Entries will appear automatically
Conflict Handling
Section titled “Conflict Handling”If the same entry is edited on multiple devices simultaneously, Ayumi detects conflicts using file modification dates and content hashes. You will be notified of any conflicts so you can resolve them.
Sync Without iCloud
Section titled “Sync Without iCloud”If you prefer not to use iCloud, you can:
- Choose a local folder and sync it manually
- Use any third-party file syncing service that works with folders (e.g., Syncthing)
- Since entries are plain Markdown files, any file-level sync tool will work
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Entries not appearing on another device | Ensure both devices use the same iCloud Drive folder |
| Sync seems slow | iCloud Drive sync timing is managed by Apple — large files may take time |
| Missing attachments | Check that iCloud Drive has downloaded the files (not “cloud” placeholders) |
