Ayumi turns your writing history into a simple view of how your journaling habit is going — entirely on your device.

Opening Statistics

Open the menu on the journal list and choose Statistics. On iOS it opens as a sheet; on macOS it opens in its own window. A condensed summary banner also appears on the journal list itself.

What’s Shown

All Time

• Total Entries — every entry you’ve written
• Total Characters and Total Words
• Active Days — the number of days you’ve journaled on, across your full history
• Averages — characters per entry and per active day

Recent Pace

• Today and This Month entry and character counts
• A comparison against your past averages, shown as a +X% or -X% change

Trends

• Last 12 Months — a bar chart of characters written per month, with entry counts above each bar
• Last 30 Days — a bar chart of characters written per day

Note

Character and word counts measure the words you actually write. Markdown link URLs are collapsed to their label text and image markup is removed, so links and embeds don’t inflate your totals.

On-Device Encouragement

At the top of the statistics view — and on the journal list’s statistics banner — Ayumi can show a short, encouraging one-line message with an emoji, based on your recent entries and pace. Tap the refresh button to get a different message.

This message is generated fully on-device using Apple Intelligence, so your entries never leave your device. It’s available in Japanese and English.

Note

The encouragement line requires a device with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 / macOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence enabled). On unsupported devices, the line simply doesn’t appear — everything else in Statistics still works.
